Cycle The Wight


What is Cycle the Wight?
Cycle the Wight is a circular ride around the Isle of Wight which is approx 70 miles long. There are also 2 smaller routes in addition to Cycle the Wight which are suitable for families and less experienced riders.


How far is it?
Cycle the Wight is a circular ride around the Isle of Wight which is approx 70 miles long.


When does it take place?
Cycle the Wight takes place on Sunday 21st September 2008 with a start time of approx 9:30am

How much does it cost to take part?
Cycle The Wight (Round the Island Route approx 65 miles)                         £5  + sponsorship 
Shorter Route
(Half Round the Island Route and return approx 45 miles)       £5  + Sponsorship
Family Route
(Approx 15 miles start at Shanklin - Children free)                   £2  + sponsorship

The event is not for profit and raises money for The British Heart Foundation

 

The Hills Killer


What is The Hills Killer?

The Hills Killer is an orienteering / endurance ride which takes place between Sandown Airport and Freshwater Bay. The event is split into 3 rides; Sandown to Freshwater (7 hills), Mottistone to Freshwater (3 hills), Freshwater to Sandown/Sandown to Freshwater (14 hills).
Each event requires riders to visit several checkpoints by navigating their route via a map and grid references. The grid references are posted at the start point.

 

How far is it?

Mottistone to Freshwater (3 hills) approx 13 miles

Sandown to Freshwater (7 hills) approx 26 miles

Freshwater to Sandown/Sandown to Freshwater (14 hills) approx 52 miles

 

When does it take place
The Hills Killer takes place on Sunday 14th September 2008.

Sink or Swim


What is Sink or Swim?

Sink or Swim is a “ride” across the River Medina where riders navigate a pedal powered vessel across the river avoiding the water below!


When does it take place?

Sink or Swim takes place on Saturday 14th September 2008 on the River Medina at Seaclose Park in Newport.


How much does it cost to take part?

Sink or Swim is FREE of charge to enter.


Where can I get an application form?

Application forms will be available from the Launch / Sink or Swim section.

 

Is it Safe? 

Yes. We have Cowes Inshore Lifeboat on hand to provide any assistance if needed.
